Each day I hope your children walk through their day to the beat of their own drum. On Wednesday Mr. Wertz visited our room as our expert for our case study on maps. He showed us a drawing of a home and we guessed what the symbols represented. He then led us in a discussion of what symbols would be included in a treasure map. The children finally drew their own "treasure maps" using the symbols they created. We really had a wonderful time! During centers the children created their own buildings for a pretend town. They had to collaborate as they decided on the business they wanted to make. They worked together decorating the box and then shared it with the whole class. Here is our map for our field experience tomorrow. We are all so excited about visiting downtown Decatur. Thank you to all my chaperones. I truly could not do this without your help. Be sure to ask your children about their field trip. What did they like best? Can they locate the places on the map? Who helped them on the trip? Dance and sing and enjoy your weekend with the ones you love!

About meI grew up in Florida and have lived in Decatur since arriving at Agnes Scott College to get my Mathematics degree. After teaching High School math for a few years, I worked at preschools while raising my 3 sons.
