I love that connection.
Just a reminder: Next week on Wednesday is early release for children and Thursday evening is Curriculum Night.
Here are some precious pictures of buddy reading. We first sit back-to-back and then side-to side.

The children loved learning about the author, Grace Lin. We read her books and discussed interesting words and how the pictures tell the story. After her book about fortune cookies, we had a cookie and I read each fortune. Also, after reading The Big Mooncake we had the opportunity to try a bite of a mooncake. As a connection to that story, we learned about the phases of the moon and created a representation showing the moon as it goes through the changes. It was great to hear of the connections some children had to the topics in the books. The first book we read was Dim Sum for Everyone, Ellie said, "I have had that! It's like eating dinner for breakfast." She remembered all of the little plates of food. Today was an exciting day. We had our first Community Circle. It was kept short. We practiced expectations and singing together. Your children did great. At the end of our day today, we worked on collaboration. The children talked, planned and created a paper chain out of only 1 sheet of paper. It was amazing to hear them talking and working together. Ask your child about this activity. Next week we will be reading many books by Ezra Jack Keats. I am sure the children will enjoy his books too. Grace Lin was actually inspired by Ezra Jack Keats to write the book A Big Bed for Little Snow.
