I did send home the class list for your valentines. The children are getting excited about sharing their cards. On Friday, Feb. 14 we will also have the pizza party we won for PTA membership. We will have a great day.
This week we learned about groundhogs and the California Condor. We read fiction and nonfiction books about groundhogs because it is such fun to read about Groundhog Day. Be sure you go outside on Sunday morning and look for your shadow! Also ask your child to tell you some interesting facts about both animals we studied. We also watched California Condors on a camera in California. They are so huge! The children are still working on their informational books about groundhogs or condors. In literacy centers this week the children made a shadow picture, prepared a groundhog book and worked on sight words with letter beads. Math is still all about measuring. Last Friday during indoor recess the children and I made pretend snow. It was so much fun. It is made from 2 cups of baking soda and 1/3 cup of hair conditioner (dollar store). If you put the ingredients in the refrigerator they will be cold like real snow. Next week we will learn about Presidents because we will be out of school on Presidents's Day. I focus on George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
