Have a great long weekend with your family. Enjoy time together talking, playing, laughing and hugging. I look forward to seeing many of you next week for conferences.
To read this more easily on the website go to wertzclass.weebly.com This week we talked and read all about families. We created a circle map with the inner circle containing our knowledge about families. As we read books we added what we learned in the outer circle. This was a wonderful continuation of the sharing we did last week from our 'All About Me' bags. At Literacy Centers we began learning our address, learned a new poem about Manners and drew our family. The children are adding so many labels to their drawings! This makes me so happy. : ) We had fun this week practicing our lunch numbers in shaving cream and making bear patterns. Shaving cream is always a huge hit. You could practice letter formation, number formation, or sight words at home using this fun idea. We only have 5 more Kings to go. We have had so much fun getting to know our new friends. I hope you have enjoyed seeing many of the names of our classmates in the little King/Queen book that has come home. We did another collaboration activity using cut up pool noodles and toothpicks. The children enjoyed poking the toothpicks so much that it was really hard to build anything together. We might have to try it again. Fun was had by all! Here are a few pictures of what happens during our free choice discovery time. This week the children took apart old remotes and found the "control panel". They made amazing train tracks. Chester had a cleaning crew to tidy up his condo and many love notes were made for our class pet. So much learning done through play.
