Our first stop was Decatur Recreational Center. Mr. Greg and Ms. Cheryl explained how they show kindness in their jobs. Mr. Greg had several children water his plants to show kindness. We also looked at the art on the large concrete wall in the playground area. For our final product, we made checkers games and we brought one to the Rec. Center as a gift for there lobby. Greg and Cheryl were so touched by the act of kindness from your children.
We had a wonderful field experience to Decatur today. The weather was wonderful and each place we visited welcomed us with such kindness. Thank you so much to all of the adults that helped make this a safe and happy adventure. Our first stop was Decatur Recreational Center. The children's librarian talked to us about how they show kindness at the library and then read us a funny book about a spider. We were so excited because after the book we got to make spiders! Wow, what a wonderful act of kindness they showed to us. We then walked down stairs to see where the books slide down from the book drop. It was very exciting to be in a part of the library that is off limits. After the library we headed to the playground. It was nice to run around and have a graham cracker before our last stop. Then we were on to the Fire Station. The fire fighters did a wonderful job teaching us about tools that they use as well as showing us all around the station. We even saw upstairs where they eat and sleep during their 24 hour shifts. To finish up our field experience we walked to Decatur Square for a picnic. Of course you can't get on the bus before climbing on the magnolia tree in front of the Rec. Center! I hope your child told you all about our fun time in Decatur today.
