Not too many more days until break. Thank you once again for all you do to send your child to school ready to learn and play. I truly appreciate you and understand how hard your job is. Hang in there, vacation is coming. Have a great weekend.
This week was a little different due to the MAP test. The children persevered and completed the Reading and Math tests by Thursday. No one cried, therefore I feel it was a win. Even with the testing, we learned so much and had so much fun this week. A few weeks ago we had attempted to draw The Statue of Liberty, but technology was not on our side...so we did it this week. This class is filled with amazing visual learners and artists. I did not even have to pause the video on Art Hub during the instruction. They loved this activity. We started a new unit in math this week. The focus is beginning addition and subtraction. The children do not have to master using the symbols for addition and subtraction, but they really what to learn them...so we are writing equations. We also started our week of Gingerbread stories on Thursday! Well, I might have read some before then, but we started Gingerbread centers on Thursday. Next week, probably Wednesday, we will make and bake our cookies in the room. If you have any left over candy from Halloween that might work for decorating the cookies, please send it in. Hanukkah began on the night of December 7, Thursday, therefore this week we read many stories about this special holiday. Today we finished our week with making dreidels, a Hanukkah book, a Star of David and played the dreidel game. It was a fun Friday afternoon. I hope your child tells you about the activities. The little wooden dreidels came from Gali's mom...Thank you so much! The children could really spin them. Thank you so much Mystery Readers. We Love You! We received 2 Tradition Collages today! Thank you so much for helping your child with this project. They really enjoy sharing their story with their friends.
