This week we read many versions of the Gingerbread Man. In literacy centers we sequenced the story, listened to the story, acted out the story using the flannel board, and added a section of the story to our poetry journal. Some of our favorite versions were; The Gingerbread Cowboy, The Gingerbread Pirate, and The Gingerbread Girl. Tomorrow we will make a gingerbread boy and a gingerbread girl in our classroom. I wonder if they will run away? This week one group of children worked on a Reader's Theater play of The Gingerbread Man. They are still practicing their lines so we have not actually done the play yet. They are very excited and even ask to practice during the day! By practicing reading over and over the same text, children build fluency...and they don't even know it. |
