We learned so many things about bats this week. I hope your child shared some information with you. The children drew a bat and added facts to their picture. They also learned a new poem; Bats Are Sleeping. Ask your child if they can recite any of the poems they have learned. We have practiced 6 poems; Friends, I am Special, Manners, 1 2 Buckle My Shoe, Apples, and Bats Are Sleeping. We also learned a quote: "No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted." Aesop We are also moving along in our Kindness Expedition. This week we focused on kindness in our family. The children drew a family portrait, full disclosure, some of the families look like bats! We brainstormed ways to show kindness at home. The children shared chores that they do at home and other ways to show your family that you care. In Math we are comparing numbers and using math terms: less than, greater than, and equal to. Ask your child to show you what they know. Can they compare teen numbers? In phonics, we have focused on 17 out of the 26 letters. Even if your child already reads, this is a great way to practice the correct way of forming each letter and neatness. The children are doing so well during dictation. Short vowel sounds are the most difficult thing to master. Can you practice a apple /a/, e ed /e/, i itch /i/, o octopus /o/, and u up /u/? Ask your child to spell CVC words like; fat, top, met, bit, gum. Next week we will learn about bones and our skeleton. Children love this time of year, with all the decorations and changes happening We have noticed many acorns on the playground. The children are amazed that a mighty oak tree grows from a tiny acorn. Look around your neighborhood and talk about the changes you see. Did you hear about our new huge biggest IPAD ever? Well, it arrived on Friday and I think I can work it. I hope the babies show me kindness as I learn another new thing.
