Of course the best part of next week will be getting on a bus and going to Decatur. Our field experience is Thursday. Please remember to send a lunch if you did not order one from the school. This is always a fun adventure for the children.
Last week was Fire Safety week. We learned all about firefighters and fire safety. We are ready to visit the fire station on Thursday! The Decatur Fire Department always does a wonderful job talking and teaching the children. We continue to work on decomposing and recognizing the teen numbers. In Math centers this week the children used rods and ones to make teen numbers, completed ten frames with stamps, played a game to make 10 and practiced playing checkers. The children made checkers games as part of our kindness expedition. We will be taking a game to each of the places we visit on our field trip as well as Sunrise. Checkers has quite a few rules and can be a bit frustrating, but we are trying to persevere. This week we will read and learn about night animals. Halloween is coming and it is so much fun to talk about bats and other creatures of the night.

About meI grew up in Florida and have lived in Decatur since arriving at Agnes Scott College to get my Mathematics degree. After teaching High School math for a few years, I worked at preschools while raising my 3 sons. I obtained a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and taught in Dekalb and Gwinnett Counties for 10 years before coming to Westchester when it reopened in 2013. Archives
