Next week we will learn about our skeleton. I will be teaching the children a song called "Macarena Bones". Later next week ask your child if they can remember the words. We will also continue our case study on maps. The children will pick a favorite place at our school and go through the writing process to write a narrative about the location. This will be a practice activity for our culminating project of drawing and writing about our favorite places in City of Decatur. Don't forget to ask your child about their favorite place in Decatur and send me a picture. The picture can be a hard copy or electronic.
This week we began out study of maps. We looked at maps and located the compass rose, map key and labels. We made a map of our room on the carpet using paper shapes and then created a map of the classroom. During centers, groups created cities with our new blocks. The children have already started bringing in the maps of their bedrooms. Thank you for helping them with this project. The children had fun creating their pumpkin pictures. They love learning poems. This week we practiced "5 Little Pumpkins" and "Little Miss Muffet". I fell out of my chair when Ella wanted to recite "Miss Muffet" and she acted out the poem and then ran off at the end. It was so cute! Then of course everyone wanted to do it too.
