Fall Expedition: What difference can one little person make? Case Study #1: My Family As we continued working on our expedition this week, we talked about the chores we do at home. Next week we will start brain storming about a new chore that we can add to help even more around the house. Thank you for helping your child learn his/her address. |
We had so much fun this week reading many versions of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Each day as our activity during Morning Meeting a group of children acted out the story using large masks. Thanks to the quick thinking of Ms. Gordon we even had a colossal squid under the bridge! Ask your child to retell this famous folk tale. This week we began reading from our book boxes every day. We talked about what it means to "build stamina". On Monday we read for 5 minutes and then each day we added one minute. The children know there are 3 ways to read a book: you can read the pictures, you can read the words and you can retell the story. I just love watching them grow as readers. In Math we learned two new partner games and continued working on writing, sequencing and understanding numbers to 20. Thank you for practicing counting to 100 with your child. Thank you so much for the apples. This coming week we will have tons of fun tasting, cooking, sorting, counting, weighing, measuring, drawing and comparing apples. Fall is here!

About meI grew up in Florida and have lived in Decatur since arriving at Agnes Scott College to get my Mathematics degree. After teaching High School math for a few years, I worked at preschools while raising my 3 sons. I obtained a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and taught in Dekalb and Gwinnett Counties for 10 years before coming to Westchester when it reopened in 2013. Archives
