I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Just a couple of fun pictures to end this blog.
Our schedule has been a bit off this week due to MAP testing. We finished testing today and had so much fun celebrating with our stuffies. Here is a picture of what testing looks like in Kindergarten. No one cried or seemed nervous this year. I am so happy about that! We will be sharing the MAP results with you during fall conferences. I will be offering conferences the week of September 13-16 in the morning before school, during specials, after school and on Thursday, September 14 in the afternoon following early release. Be thinking about a good time for you to have a conference. A virtual conference is an option. The children enjoyed decorating their Teddy Bear Picnic reminders on Wednesday morning. Today we started the day by introducing our stuffed animals. The children shared the stuffies name and when they got it, if they remembered. During math time we sorted the animals many different ways. We started with color, size, then moved on to...no tail, small tail, long tail, and imaginary and real (mammal) and reptile. These ideas came directly from children. Gotta love my job! Finally, we had our picnic. It had to be inside because of the rain, but it was wonderful anyway. We had so much fun bringing our stuffies to school! One of our friends could not be at school on Friday, so we have to do it again next Friday. Next week we will be reading books by Grace Lin. The children loved the author study on Mo Willems and I know they will enjoy this one too. We have been focusing on the sounds and formation of t, b, and f in phonics. We will add m and n next week. Ask your child the name/ keyword/ sound of the letters we have studied. t/ top/ /t/. b/ bat/ /b/. f/ fun/ /f/. These letters are all tall, skyline, letters. The b is tricky because you pull down from the sky line, trace back to the plane line and then circle around. Thank you for helping your child at home. Correct letter formation will follow them throughout their school life.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Just a couple of fun pictures to end this blog.
