Just in case you are at the store, we have run out of paper towels and could really use some. You would not believe how many times water bottles spill in our classroom. Thank you in advance.
I am going to Chattanooga to see my marathon running boy who lives in Montana. He and this wife are trying to run a race in every state and this weekend is Tennessee! So I thought I would blog tonight about our exciting week leading up to the Leprechaun's visit tomorrow. I hope your children have been telling you about all the fun books we have read about St. Patrick's Day and the facts we have learned about rainbows. We have had a week of lion days, but I am hoping for a lamb day tomorrow. This week in literacy centers the children learned a new poem and painted a rainbow, made a spring book, wrote about 'What they would do if they found a pot of gold?', and worked on homophones. The children had so much fun collaborating in a small group to create a leprechaun trap. We will see if they catch that tricky little guy. First they drew up their ideas, then they gathered materials, then they made the traps. Lots of glitter was used during this time. The following day they wrote about how the traps worked and shared with the class. We will put them out before recess and see if we catch anything. Creativity is not lost with these babies! I have been amazed at how great our lettuce and carrots have grown after so much cold weather. Today we went out and ate lettuce right out of the garden. The children were thrilled to snap off a piece and jut pop it into their mouths. We also pulled one carrot for Boo, although he did not eat it. Next week we will eat, or at least pick all of the veggies, so that we can prepare out bed for flowers. We will be planting a pollinator garden right after spring break. Gosh, I love our garden area. Next week we will be learning all about wind and weather. We will do several experiments about how air takes up space and changes with temperature changes. I love spring, so we will celebrate the first day of spring with bouquets of flowers on each table. I hope we have lamb days this weekend and you enjoy the beauty of the outdoors with your families.
