I hope everyone received the class list of names for Valentine's Day. Enjoy making some special cards for friends to celebrate a fun day of LOVE.
We started the week doing one of my favorite math activities, Measuring Penny. I read the book to the children and then they created their own dogs. The next step was to measure our dogs and then compare them to a friends dog. If you are in the building, check out the bulletin board outside our classroom. We also measured and compared our shoe, crayons and paper worms we made. The children love this math unit. Next week we will move on to weight and capacity. After reading about Groundhog Day, the children created shadow pictures and special pictures using light sensitive paper as well as a model of a groundhog. Be sure and go outside Saturday morning and see if you see your shadow. Ask your child what a shadow on Groundhog Day means for the weather. Today we took a few minutes to look for shadows and to draw our shadows with chalk. I can't let you have all the fun at home. Next week we will talk about Presidents Day and learn some things about a few presidents. We will also be finishing up our second writing unit on Informational writing. Our final type of writing to explore will be opinion/ persuasive. Get ready to have your child try to talk/write you into something...a new pet, a new room, a new toy, etc.
I hope everyone received the class list of names for Valentine's Day. Enjoy making some special cards for friends to celebrate a fun day of LOVE.
