I sure have had fun teaching, playing and getting to know your children. It is always hard to believe that the year is coming to a close. I will miss their jokes, smiles, hugs and laughter so much.
This week we are celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The children are enjoying reading books and watching short videos about China, Korea, Vietnam, India and Taiwan. We are also making our own Eric Carle style paper and reading many of his books. The children are illustrating their last poem for the year and bringing home their poetry notebook. We were hoping to have a baby chick this week, but none of our eggs hatched. I guess that is a lesson in and of itself. It still makes me sad. In math I have prepared 3 different subtraction partner games for the children to learn and play. So far it has been a nice change from math centers. We have also been talking about how we have grown this year. The children have read Leo the Late Bloomer and are creating flowers with petals telling of their growth. Next week we will have 3 fun days; Monday Art Day, Tuesday Science Day and Wednesday Bubble Day. We are celebrating summer birthdays on Monday and Bennett's Birthday on Wednesday!

About meI grew up in Florida and have lived in Decatur since arriving at Agnes Scott College to get my Mathematics degree. After teaching High School math for a few years, I worked at preschools while raising my 3 sons. I obtained a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and taught in Dekalb and Gwinnett Counties for 10 years before coming to Westchester when it reopened in 2013. Archives
